Pulmonology providers moving to the new office are Muhammad Alvi, MD, Lakshmi Kallur, MD, Joseph Lamar, MD, Mary Polk, MD, and Andrea Rivera, FNP. They specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of both chronic and acute diseases of the lungs and respiratory tract, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The providers have extensive training in sleep disorders and minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat lung disease.
Dr. Muhammad Alvi, a board-certified critical care pulmonologist, specializes in diagnosing and treating a variety of pulmonary diseases and conditions, including interstitial lung disease, COPD, obstructive sleep apnea, asthma, pulmonary hypertension and high-risk lung nodules and masses, and lung cancer. He has expertise in EBUS (endobronchial ultrasound) navigational bronchoscopy for the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer.
Dr. Lakshmi Kallur, a board-certified physician in pulmonary and critical care medicine, specializes in caring for patients with chronic respiratory conditions, such as asthma, pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease and COPD. In addition, her field of interest includes thoracic oncology - with a focus on prompt diagnosis and staging of lung cancer utilizing procedures such as EBUS and navigational bronchoscopy. Dr. Kallur also provides care for sleep apnea and sarcoidosis, which is an auto-immune disease that most commonly affects the lungs and lymph nodes.
Dr. Joseph Lamar, a board-certified pulmonologist and critical care specialist, specializes in diagnosing and treating a variety of pulmonary diseases and conditions, including lung nodules and lung masses. He has a special interest in navigational bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasounds and intrapleural catheters.
Dr. Mary Polk, a board-certified pulmonologist and sleep medicine specialist, specializes in the evaluation and treatment of patients having chronic respiratory diseases including asthma, COPD, pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease. She is also skilled in the management of sleep disorders such as narcolepsy and restless leg syndrome, and in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea with therapies that include PAP, noninvasive ventilation, and the Inspire device.
Andrea Rivera, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, co-manages asthma, chronic cough, COPD, post-hospital transition of care, and sleep apnea.
